Fireplace manufacturer Heat & Glo has introduced a new line of modern gas fireplaces that allows homeowners to control the settings from inside or outside the home with a smartphone.

“The Mezzo Series allows designers and consumers to bring their vision and style to life, with a variety of sizes and accessory options” said Bob Ballard, senior VP marketing. “Builders will also appreciate the opportunity to set their homes apart with a dramatic focal point that leaves a lasting impression.”

The line is outfitted with the company’s new IntelliFire feature, allowing the unit to be controlled from a Wi-Fi-enabled app on smartphones and tablets. “With this system, homeowners can turn the fireplace on and off, control room temperature, engage a child safety lock, and adjust flame height, LED lighting and timer remotely,” the company said.

Consisting of three sizes — 36-in., 48-in. and 60-in. — the fireplaces reflect the trend toward clean, modern designs with a linear shape, flush-to-the wall installation and low-profile trim. Clear LED under-lighting illuminates the firebox from beneath a bed of crushed glass that can also be enjoyed when the flame is on or off. Customization options include seven colors of crushed glass, three designer fronts and finish options.
