Atlanta-based Telguard has launched a GDC1 Universal Garage Door Controller that is compatible with any automatic opener connected to a sectional garage door.
Telguard, which combines devices, interactive service, and alarm processing into turnkey systems for monitoring intrusion and fire systems, said its first truly universal Z-Wave system on the market.
Quickly and easily installed, the GDC1 can be added to a home automation system to receive notifications if a garage door has been opened when it shouldn’t be or ensure that the garage door is closed at a specific time every night.
“If the system’s Z-Wave gateway has a mobile app, it can be used to remotely control or monitor the garage door from anywhere,” the company said.
It’s compatible with any Z-Wave controller supporting the binary switch command class; provides five seconds of audible and visual warnings prior to remote movement; has the ability to cancel movement locally during the warning period; and suspends unattended operation after two consecutive failed closed attempts.
“We are excited to partner with FortrezZ to leverage their expertise in designing high quality Z-Wave products,” said Shawn Welsh, VP of Marketing and Business Development, Telular. “Bringing over 20 years of RF wireless technology experience to the table, FortrezZ is the ideal company to work with us in delivering to the security market a unique, reliable and cost-effective product that is robust enough to work with any garage door.”
The product will be available in December 2014.
