Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania-based Versatex Building Products has launched a new Web-based tool that lets builders (and homebuyers) try out creative options in architectural trim.

The 3D virtual Ideal Builder sketchpad goes live this week.

“Now you can be sure you’ve seen all the alternatives before deciding on your ideal solution,” said Versatex VP sales Rick Kapres. “With Idea Builder, you can preview a whole range of ways to personalize a home like yours, almost as fast as you can imagine them. Idea Builder is our latest development in helping home owners, architects and contractors create smarter.”

From the site Ideal Builder, users select a realistic model house from a menu of architectural styles and then customize it with the company’s range of PVC trim elements, such as mouldings, window surrounds and beadboard panels.

Users can examine their concepts from all angles, zoom in for close-ups or fly around a home to evaluate its potential curb appeal. “Thanks to Idea Builder’s close integration with the Versatex website and mobile app users can save their design ideas for future reference, and even review detailed product information about trim components they’ve selected—all free of charge,” the company said.

Idea Builder is compatible with Windows, Mac and Linux desktops and laptops, as well as most tablets with 768 px or greater resolution.
